Travel & Reimbursement
If you plan to travel by train between your home and the airport, UCLA can reimburse this cost if a few conditions are met.
(1) Please purchase your round-trip ticket directly through the train service, and not through a third-party “package travel deals” service.
(2) Purchase your ticket with a credit or debit card under your name, and be sure to request an itemized receipt that has your name printed on it.
(3) Provide the original itemized receipt to the CLIC Coordinator in person or by email at
(4) Before purchasing your ticket, please check to make sure that train travel to the airport is the least expensive travel option. If, for example, you find that it is cheaper to fly from your local airport to a major international airport and transfer flights, as opposed to taking a train directly to the major international airport, please contact the CLIC Coordinator at
If you plan to travel by train directly to UCLA, UCLA can reimburse this cost if a few conditions are met.

If you plan to travel by taxi between LAX Airport and UCLA, UCLA can reimburse this cost if a few conditions are met.
(1) Request a paper or electronic receipt from the taxi driver upon payment, and pay with a debit or credit card under your name.
(2) Provide the CLIC Coordinator with your receipt, either in person or electronically at <clic [at] ucla.edu>
Please be aware that it can be difficult to reimburse Uber or Lyft rides through UCLA.
If you hope to travel by taxi around Los Angeles, UCLA may or may not be able to reimburse this cost.
UCLA can reimburse taxi costs if they fall under the category of legitimate business expense. Direct taxi travel between the Guest House and LAX for CLIC guest speakers can always be filed as a business expense, however not all travel by taxi can be filed in this way. Examples of taxi costs that UCLA can reimburse: Transportation to a dinner with UCLA faculty or students. Transportation to a CLIC event hosted off-site.
Examples of taxi costs that UCLA cannot reimburse: Transportation to a talk at another university. Transportation to a museum or art exhibit.
